Canadian Waterpower Week 2026

October 28–30, 2026 Ottawa, ON
HydroForecast Waterpower Canada

We're excited to share that HydroForecast will be at Canadian Waterpower Week, taking place October 28–30 at The Westin Ottawa. Hosted by Waterpower Canada, the event brings together the country's hydropower producers, developers, and utilities for a week of programming on the future of the sector — and we're proud to be a member of the association.

The full agenda hasn't been published yet — check back at waterpowerweek.ca for session details as they're announced.

Speaking session

Dr. Laura Read, Director of Technical and Federal Partnerships for HydroForecast at Upstream Tech, will be presenting:

From Forecast to Decision: How Theory-Guided AI Is Raising the Bar for Hydropower Operations

As climate volatility intensifies, hydropower operators are demanding more from their forecasting tools — greater accuracy during extreme events, longer planning horizons, and tighter integration with operational workflows. This session explores how the next generation of AI-driven streamflow forecasting is meeting that demand: combining multi-model ensemble architectures, probabilistic outputs, and expert hydrologic oversight to deliver forecasts operators can actually act on. Drawing on real-world deployments across North America, Laura will discuss what separates today's most advanced solutions from legacy approaches — and what operators should expect from forecasting technology in the years ahead.
