Auckland Council on forecasts for flooding and emergency management
Hear how one of the world's most complex coastal cities uses advanced hydrological forecasting to protect communities and infrastructure. Auckland Council shares how probabilistic forecasting drives real-time water management decisions across multiple departments.

Snow data and forecasting challenges
We recently sat down with leading water organizations — Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) and Denver Water — to discuss how snowpack data is collected and integrated into spring runoff forecasting. With both organizations navigating very different snow extremes this year, the conversation was full of timely insights.
New capabilities: Snow Water Equivalent insights
We've expanded HydroForecast to include powerful new Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) analysis , giving water managers a clearer picture of snowpack conditions. SWE measures how much water is stored in the snowpack — a critical input for predicting spring runoff, reservoir inflows, and seasonal water availability.

Upcoming conferences
Spring has us on the road, and we have several exciting events ahead in Europe and the Western U.S.
- ACWA — Joining California's water leaders to discuss the future of the state's water resources and how advanced forecasting can support water management statewide.
- Western Snow Conference — Held jointly with the Eastern Snow Conference this year under the theme "North American Snow Collaboration." Our Solutions Engineer Alex Truby will present on integrating sparse snow observations into operational water supply forecasts using machine learning.
- European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly — This international meeting brings together technical experts across the scientific fields. Upstream Tech CTO Alden Keefe Sampson will be presenting on “The Hydrologic Modeler’s Evolving Role in the Age of AI”.
